Todays lesson was dedicated to examination of a famous Ukrainian author Nikolai Gogol and his work "The Nose" . In these story Gogol makes fun of an ordinary people and of the ones who handling higher positions , as of protagonists of the story accessor Kovalev and his barber Ivan Yakovlevitch . The inspiration for a story Gogol took from his look as he was very sensitive about his long nose , and he often mocked of it , these was a pointed in his stories and letters to his companions.
Story starts from a barber who finds in his bread a human nose, here we get introduced to a Ivan Yakovlevitch . He immediately understands that these nose belongs to one of his customers , for these case he finds probably the most outlandish explanation he thinks that he tore it of , as usually when barbers shaving beards they handle a human for his nose , so he got to conclusion that he was pulling nose so hard that he just tore it off . With out any pang of conscience he rushes to a river to get rid off any evidence of his participation in these crime but in a last moment getting caught by a policemen . It was funny to read and follow how is true nature of a character opens wisely threw the story , how from a low-binding community member barber becomes a criminal , especially a paranoiac way he is behaving .
As soon as first chapter ends , we got introduced to a accessor Kovalev he shown to us as extravagant selfish character whom largest treasure is a bit power and dignity. Probably the lost nose evaluates his place in society . Here Gogol mocking of position in society because as far we going threw the story happens unexpected meeting , of Kovalev and a missing element of his face . The satiric element in here was that his nose had a higher ranking then a he had ever before. But story doesn't ends on it , as his nose escaping from a sharp sight of the accessor Kovalev. He decides don't waste time and go straight forward to the news paper to purchase to purchase colon in it. Where he meeting captious clerk whom declines prepossession of accessor Kovalev as states that nose is stands by a puddle as they had similar situation last week . After an unsuccessful discussion about reputation of news paper , he coming back to his house , where he searching for relief . Straight after he coming back home , someone knocks in the door , behind the door standing police of officer , same one who caught barber behind the river. He says that Kovalev's nose were captured while was trying to escape to Riga , but there is nothing to worry about as it was sufficiently arrested. After Kovalev receiving his nose back he decide's to went to surgeon. Whom after precise measurements states that there is no way he can stick it back . He decides to write a letter blaming a madam who was trying to marry him with her daughter , in interaction with witches and asks to return his nose . For me was very funny to follow threw that as both Kovalev and Barber had absolute different understanding of events.
Third paragraph starts Kovalev who awakes with his nose. It was interesting to follow a characters threw the story , as they were disparate . The gaps of miss information between the chapters left a space for imagination making reader to think and imagine situation from a perspective of character .
